In the 1st Anglo-Mysore War (1767 – 69) the confederation of Marathas, Nizam of Hyderabad and British fought against Haider Ali. During the course of war Haide Ali was able to bring the Marathas and the Nizam to his side. In 1769, the war came to an end through the “Treaty of Madras”. As per the treaty the conquered territories were restored to each other.
